Finding Cheap Wedding Dresses

By

Now that times are hard and the red carpet worthy gown is just not within the wedding budget, brides may want to reconsider choosing chic yet cheap wedding dresses. Designer wedding gowns can cost a great deal and cutting the cost of the dress can save you more money for other things that you really need for the wedding or honeymoon! Cheap does not always mean ugly and mediocre, however, it just means practical. It all depends on how creative you can get. Here are some helpful tips you can consider when choosing classy yet cheap beautiful wedding dresses.

The first thing you can explore is to ask friends and relatives that are your size if they’re willing to lend you their gown. They might surprise you and be eager to let you wear their gown since they aren’t going to use it again and want to put it to good use. If you want to make it more of your own gown, you can also ask your friend if it’s alright that you do minor alterations and/or repairs on the dress so it will fit you perfectly. Not only can you find cheap wedding dresses by using this approach, you might get lucky and get one for free!

If you don’t have friends and family that have dresses you can work with, then start checking out bridal stores within your area. Try on cheap wedding dresses for sale that you like and compare them. It is relatively easy to find cheap wedding dresses under 100 dollars. Make a list of your top choices, noting the prices of each gown. Get the perfect combination of beauty, quality and affordability. Try to stay away from excessive beading, lace or embellishments. It is easier to detect a cheap dress from the details. Simple clean lines are best.

If you are still not finding anything that fits your budget or taste, you might want to consider looking in vintage shops or bridal gown rent shops. Wedding gowns are usually only used once and vintage shops might offer dresses you can reinvent as wedding gowns. You can also try online shopping as well and search for discounted and cheap wedding dresses. Online auction sites such as Ebay are always a good idea to explore. Online, you can also find where bridal gown sales are happening and check them out if you have time.

If you find yourself miserable with the thought of the above options, your last resort is couture. Not the couture that you think of with fancy fashion shows in New York or Paris, but couture in the sense that you or someone you know makes a handmade dress for you. In this way, you can pick out everything to the last detail and get exactly what you want at a fraction of the price. There are a lot of seamstresses that can also help you create your own dress relatively inexpensively. You can search out discount fabric, beads, and supplies online or in clearance bins at your local fabric store. Not many people make their own gowns, so the odds of finding deals on fabric are quite high. You will essentially create one of the best cheap designer wedding dresses around!

Finding the affordable dress you want really demands time and effort. Give yourself at least a month to search and decide which approach is best for you. If you want a quality gown, then you need to be patient and look through the web and bridal stores. Ask your mom and married friends where they have searched before and where they found great deals. You can also expand these ideas to find cheap flower girl dresses or bridesmaid dresses for your entire wedding party. Invite your bridesmaid and maid of honor to be your shopping buddies, so looking for cheap wedding dresses will be easier, faster and more enjoyable. Always remember that expeditions to find treasures do not happen overnight, but they do happen!

We must think alike because I was writing the same hub idea as you were. Mine was more about pictures while yours is more about the info behind it all, so we can just work well together. :)

Why are wedding dresses so expensive? I'm going crazy trying to find something in my budget. I did just get a list of local vendors from http://www.gatheringguide.com though, so I'm planning on visiting them and seeing who can make me a deal or get me on a payment plan. Wish me luck!
